Early Years with Autism

I Train Parents to Implement Therapy Successfully at Home.

Is your child shining in a different way?

WHAT IS AUTISM?

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is an umbrella of conditions that affects social skills, speech and nonverbal communication, and causes repetitive behaviours.

There is no one type of autism but many subtypes or levels and because Autism is a spectrum condition, each child that is developing or has autism can have a distinct set of strengths or challenges compared to others.

Autism can be hard to diagnose before 24 months of age, although symptoms often surface between 12 and 18 months. During therapy, parents often realise that some signs had been showing as early as 3 months. Intensive treatment might help to rewire the brain and reverse the symptoms at any stage that signs are detected.

1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to CDC (Center of Disease Control). 1 in 57 in the UK alone according to a study of the NHS in 2020, 1 in 160 is diagnosed with Autism worldwide according to WHO.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?

Some signs can set off an alarm that a child might be developing or showing signs of autism, such signs could be speech delay, lack of eye contact and repetitive behaviour amongst others. While the search for diagnosis is important, taking action soon after a confirmation is imperative for the child’s development to continue progressing. The sooner parents start implementing an intervention program, the better the chances your child has, to revert a possible diagnosis.

Early Intervention for Toddlers with Autism has demonstrated to be highly effective and has show significant gains in IQ, communication and social interaction, this, according to the University Southampton.

WHICH THERAPIES?

There is a plethora of information available and a whole menu of therapy options on offer, which makes it difficult to know which one to choose. Her are some to name a few, to give you an idea...

Studies and experience show, that intervening at a very early age as soon as signs of autism have been identified, present the possibility of turning the condition around.

Autism is a scary word, the idea of your child’s life looking uncertain is reason enough to despair, I know - I was there! Sure life changes straight away but this is not to say that hope is lost and that there is nothing we as parents, can do ourselves, on the contrary! I believe that behind every child with special needs, there is a warrior parent, fighting for his or her child to positively transform their lives.

DO PARENTS HAVE A ROLE?

As parents, you can do a lot more than you can imagine! The best way to help your child is, by you easily implementing therapy subtly through your daily activities. In the majority of the cases, parents are the key to bringing positive change into their children's lives!

You need to know information that is available out there, will not have all the answers you expect, so what is the solution? Well, only you know your child better than anybody else, that is 50% of the battle won, then, you need to know that you could quickly learn the necessary skills required to take control of the circumstances and be the expert that your child needs right now. You are your child’s best therapist!

Parenting is not easy, we all know it, and the sound of being your child’s therapist might seem a huge task to undertake, but just as you are the best parent your child can have, you can become your child’s best therapist with a bit of help!

To help you start this journey, the first step is to evaluate if your child is showing signs of autism. Take a courtesy test.

Already in therapy or on waiting list for a diagnosis?

WHILE YOU ARE WAITING…

Your child might be either, already participating in a therapy program, on a waiting list to receive further evaluation, or waiting for an opening in an intervention program.

Whichever the case, the reality is, that the majority of parents do not know that  actually miles of progress can be achieved by parents themselves,  even in a short period of time.

By providing  immediate comprehensive training to parents,  they become empowered with relevant information and appropriate techniques specifically to deal with symptoms that are affecting their children, their world and in turn affecting the rest of the family. Parents need to know that they are able to begin effectively a reverting process of their children’s diagnosis at home without wasting precious time!

Even children waiting to receive support with other conditions as well as autism, can greatly benefit from their parents gaining skills and knowledge that gives them advantage over parents that only rely on their national health system help or on their therapists for a once-a-week session, because through daily life activities, well applied techniques can create fast changes that transform their lives!

ALREADY IN THERAPY?

The intervention therapy programs offered by various therapists to treat autism, are normally presented to parents in a very empirical and scientific way, frankly, confusing jargon! Their lengthy process requires a team of specialists requesting large amounts of data and takes a long time just to have a child diagnosed and later started in a program.

In my experience, as a mother who studied early intervention for autism and experienced herself her child being diagnosed with this condition, I can tell you that we parents can benefit so much more from additional resources than just a few therapy sessions alone at any stage.

Timely additional help is highly effective because it complements and even surpasses results from techniques used by therapists exclusively. It can accelerate the ongoing improvement and also has the potential of the reversal of a diagnosis.

It is my life's mission, therefore, to empower parents living in similar circumstances as I did with my child, by showing them that there is real hope, that things can get much better than they think or are told. It is my privilege to continue sharing with parents, the techniques and systems that I have developed and successfully applied while going through my son's early intervention program therapy, which later had it reversed. An opportunity that every child in this situation deserves!

I have been helping parents to implement therapy successfully at home through my training program, that teaches them to concisely and clearly understand autism, and through the implementation of a step-by-step tailored program created for their children to begin positively transforming their beloved child's life.
